Our General Guidelines for a Healthier Diet

As a Nutritionist, I am often asked what kind of diets I recommend for people. The truth is, I am not a fan of diets as I find them restrictive, often unrealistic and I believe that every person is a unique individual and has dietary needs that might well be different from those of another person. Therefore, I believe that there is no one right diet for everyone! Having said that, I have found that there are general dietary guidelines which can be helpful for most people to follow if they are looking to change their diet for better health. Recipe - Roots to Health Chicken Bone Broth

A Rich Broth for Making Soup or Just Sipping

(Yield: about 5 quarts)

 

Ingredients

5 lbs of a combination of organic chicken backs and necks

1 or 2 whole organic chicken drumsticks, with skin on

8 quarts cold filtered water

1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar or brown rice vinegar

3 organic carrots, washed and cut into chunks

3 stalks of organic celery, cut into chunks

2 medium yellow onions, root end removed but peel left on, cut into chunks

1 bay leaf

 

Procedure

Rinse off chicken bones and add to a large stock pot. Add the water and the vinegar to the pot. Cover the pot and let sit for about 1 hour.
